There are more people enslaved today than during any other time in history.

The 6:8 Freedom Project gives students the chance to learn why over 40 million people around the world are being trafficked and what each of us can do to stop it.

Based on Micah 6:8, the 6:8 Freedom Project is a free, online curriculum in which kids of all ages can learn:

  • what human trafficking is and what it looks like in different parts of the world
  • how to protect themselves from trafficking and exploitation and what to do if they have been harmed personally
  • what God has to say about justice
  • what everyone can do to bring freedom and healing to trafficking survivors around the world

You can make a difference and impact your world with justice, mercy, and humility, no matter how old you are. You have a role to play to bring freedom to people just like you throughout the world.

Through the 6:8 Freedom Project, you’ll visit far-off places like Uganda, Belize, and Cambodia, but you’ll also learn what human trafficking looks like right here in America. WHAT IS THE 6:8 FREEDOM PROJECT?

Based on Micah 6:8, the 6:8 Freedom Project curriculum provides an age appropriate, faith-based look into trafficking around the world, while encouraging students to discover their own passions and gifts to make a difference.

Each of the 12 lessons included in the curriculum invite students to:

  • LEARN

Each lesson kicks off with an engaging video filled with fact-based educational content where you'll learn about human trafficking while traveling around the world with the JOY International team.

Along the way, you'll meet young people just like you who have been affected by trafficking or are vulnerable to being trafficked and hear their stories of hope and healing.

  • ENGAGE

Every lesson includes age-appropriate discussion questions, devotionals, and hands-on activities designed to bring the learning content to life in a meaningful way.

  • MAKE AN IMPACT

6:8 Freedom Project invites each of us to consider God's special calling on our lives as we lean into how to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly in our everyday lives.

At the end of each lesson, you will be challenged to do something within your community to fight human trafficking.

TOGETHER, LET'S BRING FREEDOM AND HEALING TO THE WORLD!

Because JOY International is committed to developing the next generation of freedom fighters, the 6:8 Freedom Project is free to students around the world. As a participant, you will be invited to impact the lives of trafficking survivors and children at risk of being trafficked by fundraising to support the work of JOY International. This fundraising is optional, but plays a crucial role in the fight against human trafficking.

By each of us raising as little as $50, we can collectively make a lasting impact through the mission of JOY International as we work to bring freedom, healing, and protection to children and vulnerable populations around the world.

Is this curriculum right for my student?

Our number one priority of The 6:8 Freedom Project curriculum is to share about the plight of human trafficking in a way that is age-appropriate and hope-filled. The curriculum has multiple versions, so you can choose the learning experience that is right for your student.

The kids' curriculum is recommended for children under 12 with hope-filled videos and age-appropriate activities. This version vaguely discusses labor trafficking and does not mention sex or sex trafficking at all. The teen curriculum is designed specifically for teen students who are more mature. This version of the curriculum does mention sex trafficking and addresses concerns with pornography. The parent guide details content so you, as the parent, will know what is being discussed when, and how it is presented.

About JOY International

JOY International was founded by Dr. Jeff Brodsky in 1981 in a quest to bring JOY to a broken world. As Dr. Brodsky traveled the world in search of "the least of these", he came to know the horrors of child trafficking and dedicated his life to setting these children free. In 2010, Dr. Brodsky made the commitment to walk barefoot in solidarity with impoverished and trafficked children and has not had so much as a sock on his feet since. Dr. Brodsky, shares, "If my going barefoot will motivate at least one person to action in a way that will help us rescue even one more child, I'll go barefoot the rest of my life."

JOY International takes a multi-faceted approach to fighting human trafficking throughout the world by addressing four basic areas: freedom, healing, empowerment, and prevention.

As a result of JOY's work, more than 2,500 children, teens, and young women have been set free.
